WASHINGTON – The DC Fiscal Policy Institute (DCFPI) is pleased to welcome Indivar Dutta-Gupta to its Board of Directors.
Indivar “Indi” Dutta-Gupta is the President and Executive Director of The Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP)—a national, nonpartisan, anti-poverty nonprofit that develops practical yet visionary strategies for reducing poverty, promoting economic opportunity, and addressing institutional and racial barriers faced by people of color. Prior to joining CLASP, Indi was the co-executive director of the Georgetown Center on Poverty & Inequality (GCPI), where he led work to develop and advance policy recommendations that alleviate poverty and inequality, advance racial and gender equity, and expand economic inclusion for all people in the United States. He has received numerous awards and accolades, including being named one of Washington Life magazine’s most Influential 40-And-Under Leaders (2013) and Rising Stars 40 And Under (2016, 2017).
“I can’t imagine a better new addition to the DCFPI Board as we work to leverage DC’s tax and budget systems to advance an antiracist, equitable District,” said Erica Williams, Executive Director of DCFPI. “Indi brings deep commitment and an intersectional approach to ending poverty and building economic opportunity. He is grounded in the history that has shaped today’s racially disparate outcomes and also forward looking in solutions. I know DCFPI will benefit greatly from his leadership.”
Dutta-Gupta’s appointment to the Board of Directors marks a continued commitment from the organization to diversify its board and further lean into its revamped mission and vision that explicitly recognizes the central role of structural racism in policy and practice.
