In an inclusive economy, growth leads to shared prosperity that allows every resident financial security, resources to build wealth, and opportunity to live to their fullest. But as DC’s economy grows, it is marked by stark racial inequalities in employment, income, and wealth. Extreme inequality hampers mobility and economic growth. On the other hand, redistributing resources in ways that reduce inequality can strengthen the economy.
