D.C. Mayor Bowser pitches a budget with cuts to childcare and paid leave programs to meet economic headwinds

“We all agree that revenue is slowing down and that we can’t raise enough revenue to get us out of this mess,” said Tazra Mitchell, chief policy and strategy officer of the D.C. Fiscal Policy Institute. “We can’t cut programs to get out of the mess. We have to take a both-and approach. We have a balanced approach to meet the moment and get us through this.”
