Earlier this summer, a flurry of proposals were introduced in the DC Council that would significantly change how our schools operate and allocate resources, from the granting of surplus DCPS facilities to charter schools to what new mechanisms might be put in place to turn around low-performing schools.
These bills cover a lot of ground, making it critical that DC residents learn exactly how they would change education in DC, and make their voices heard once the council is back in session. This column will drill down into one of the bills, the Fair Student Funding and School-Based Budgeting Act of 2013.
