The DC Council may soon have a chance to help the 1,200 homeless families and nearly 4,000 homeless individuals in the District and to avoid another crisis like we had last winter. A new revenue forecast is expected this week. If it shows that DC’s tax collections are growing, the Council can use that rising prosperity to help our neighbors who are most challenged by the city’s rising cost of living.
5, 4, 3…with $5 million for families, $4 million for individuals, and $3 million for youth, the DC Council can show its commitment to ending homelessness RIGHT NOW for hundreds of DC residents and connect even more of our homeless neighbors to the resources needed to regain housing stability.
You can help by sending an email the DC Council today and ask them to invest resources so that no one is homeless for months or years. Your support tells the DC Council that ending homelessness is a priority for people who live and work in the District.
