Tax and Revenue

Taxes and other sources of revenue make up the collective resources the District needs to fund quality public schools, end homelessness, maintain reliable public transportation, and more. But the DC tax code protects and grows wealth concentration for disproportionately white households. By building a progressive and racially just tax system based on residents’ ability to pay–with the wealthiest paying the greatest share of their income in taxes relative to households with middle and low incomes–elected officials can ensure every resident shares in DC’s prosperity.
