The DC Fiscal Policy Institute’s (DCFPI) Executive Director Erica Williams released the following statement:
“As we face a second Trump administration, we understand the threat of a national policy agenda that targets Black and brown people, immigrants, the LGBTQ+ community, women, and folks struggling through economic hardship.
“We also know the specific threats to DC residents, with the potential elimination of local self-governance that guards the rights, health, and safety of the nearly 700,000 residents who live in DC.
“The ugliness, hate, and chaos will be hard for all of us committed to justice to operate in, but we are not alone, and we are not lost.
“I believe that in this moment, building and nurturing community while staying true to our purpose and passion will be essential to ensuring our individual and collective health and wellbeing. In the days and weeks ahead, we at DCFPI will have many conversations with our partners about what we’re up against and how we can work together to protect District residents and communities and preserve DC’s rights and promise.”
